This is enabled (I hope) using the Include Mastodon Feed plugin and the option to draw from a tag via this shortcode.

Since the implosion of the Platform I Will Only Call Twitter, we have still a ways to go to integrate responses in Mastodon into the web site (I know its possible). But…. if you reply to a Daily Create posted in Mastodon, the Daily Create web site is able to track that as a response (because it is a Fediverse entity via the ActivityPub WordPress plugin).
They show up like comments, see the responses for today — see also a honest to Jeff blog post on Blogging Federatedly With WordPress.
Someday I may dust off my chops and find a way to keep track of responses, bringing back the link to your own archive, and yes, a Leadeboard. But, I have been dawdling for like 2 years.
